National Forest Foundation Conservation Campaign
Treasured Landscapes, Unforgettable Experiences
|
| The Deschutes National Forest |
Brimming with natural values for America's people and communities, our 193-million-acre National Forest System gives us clean air and water, diverse wildlife habitat and abundant outdoor recreation opportunities. Today, the challenges to the future of all these values are as complex and numerous as the forest ecosystems themselves. From wildfire to invasive species to climate change, many factors threaten the resources we need and the wild places we cherish.
With millions of acres in need of restoration and millions of people unaware of how National Forests enrich their lives, the NFF set forth on a campaign of restoration. We are working to restore our damaged forests and restore Americans connection to these public lands.
Our goals in this campaign to Revitalize Our Forests and Strengthen Our Natural Connection include:
- We will implement stewardship projects that nurture more resilient forest ecosystems.
- We will restore landscapes damaged by wildfire, insects, disease and natural disasters to provide scenic, watershed, wildlife and carbon sequestration benefits.
- We will invest in the strength of communities of interest and communities of place, helping people convert their passion for forests into meaningful and sustainable conservation actions.
We will help the American public to fully understand, savor and appreciate all that our National
Forests have to offer building lasting connections with the lands that give us clean air and
water, diversity of life, and fulfilling outdoor recreation opportunities.
Grants focused on the Treasured Landscapes, Unforgettable Experiences campaign sites are
typically awarded strategically based on the conservation plan being implemented at each
particular site.
