Kentucky Ridge Timber Sale, Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests, Colorado

June 11, 2024

The National Forest Foundation (NFF) and the USDA Forest Service (USFS) are working together to implement the Kentucky Ridge Timber Sale. The objective is to increase forest resiliency, improve forest health, promote landscape heterogeneity, and reduce the continuity of fuels. The primary method of achieving these goals in lodgepole stands is through even age silviculture and overstory removal in spruce and fir stands. The project consists of 20 treatment units totaling 337 acres. Units are primarily vegetated in mature lodgepole, live and dead. Stands of Engleman Spruce and subalpine fir are present as well. Slope varies from 0 to 35%.
