Liberty Utilities Hand Thin Project, Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, California

The Liberty Utilities Hand Thin Project will improve wildfire resiliency on forests adjacent to Liberty Utilities infrastructure by reducing overstocked vegetation and ground fuel accumulation along the utility corridor.

Project work will occur on 207 acres in Zones 1 and 2 (extending up to 175’ on each side of the power line) of Liberty Utility infrastructure. The project will improve stand conditions by thinning green trees up to 14” DBH and snags up to 20” DBH. Cut and existing ground fuel material will then be piled and covered by wax paper.
