South Fork South Branch Potomac River Watershed Aquatic Organism Passage, George Washington and Jefferson National Forests, Virginia

May 2, 2025

The NFF is seeking a qualified engineering firm (the Contractor) to design and construct the replacement of select culverts with improved, ecologically functional road crossings in pre-specified areas of the South Fork South Branch Potomac River Watershed in the George Washington and Jefferson National Forest (the Forest). The purpose of this cooperative effort is to provide safe passage for Forest users on an Appalachian Subregional Forest (the George Washington and Jefferson NF) and reconnect fragmented habitat of aquatic organisms. The natural hydrology of these streams will be restored by the installation of an ecologically functional road / stream crossing improvement to support aquatic organism passage and stream connectivity.

The Contractor will be responsible for designing and constructing the replacement of corrugated metal pipes in at least two locations with ecologically functional structures and all associated stream simulation. Work includes the design and construction of two (2) mandatory and the design and construction of five (5) optional culvert improvement projects.
