NFF, White River National Forest and Vail Resorts Partner for the It’s All Yours Public Service Campaign

Outdoor recreation, skiing in particular, brings millions of people to the White River National Forest every year. Skiing is the second most popular outdoor activity besides hiking on national forest lands. All 12 ski resorts permitted on the White River National Forest, which equal 22,975 skiable acres, are partially or fully located on National Forest system lands.

The National Forest Foundation, the White River National Forest and Vail Resorts have partnered to present the “It’s All Yours” Public Service campaign during the 2015 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships (FIS 2015). Launching in February, the “It’s All Yours” campaign is aimed at building awareness about recreation opportunities on National Forests and Grasslands and encouraging responsible recreation and stewardship of National Forests.

“We are excited that the White River National Forest will be the racecourse for the world’s best athletes in February 2015 and the venue for the largest and most prestigious ski racing event in the world,” said Forest Supervisor Scott Fitzwilliams. “The White River National Forest is an epicenter for outdoor winter recreation. This partner campaign seeks to inspire and encourage responsible outdoor activity and stewardship of National Forests. It highlights National Forests as places with endless opportunities to explore, discover and connect while simultaneously addressing the need for forest stewardship among the public and partners as essential to sustaining recreation opportunities in the future.”The National Forest Foundation, the White River National Forest and Vail Resorts have partnered to present the “It’s All Yours” Public Service campaign during the 2015 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships (FIS 2015). The year-long partner campaign will debut several Public Service Announcements and be bolstered by various informational resources available at www.itsallyours.us. The campaign will also unveil two unique gondola wraps or “mobile ranger stations” during the event where visitors can enjoy the ride while talking to Snow Rangers about skiing and snowboarding on national forests and how to become stewards of their forest lands. As a token of our appreciation, visitors who ride the gondola and speak with our Rangers will be given commemorative FIS 2015 Forest Service pins.

Vail Resorts is a longtime and valued partner in recreation and stewardship of the White River National Forest. "Vail Resorts, along with the local communities and the White River National Forest, is proud to host the 2015 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Vail and Beaver Creek. We are very excited to partner with the U.S. Forest Service and the National Forest Foundation to highlight the role our national forests play in providing nearly unlimited opportunities to have fun in the great outdoors,” stated Rick Cables, Vice President, Natural Resources and Conservation for Vail Resorts. “Skiing and snowboarding at Vail and Beaver Creek could only be possible through our decades-long partnership with the U.S. Forest Service. National Forests are your lands — enjoy and appreciate them.”

The National Forest Foundation focuses on enhancing national forests and connecting the public to their forests in a meaningful way. “Our National Forests provide endless opportunities for outdoor experiences. We are excited to work with the U.S. Forest Service, White River National Forest, and Vail Resorts to share the message about all the benefits national forests provide,” said Marcus Selig, Southern Rockies Regional Director of the National Forest Foundation.

The “It’s All Yours Campaign” was designed to connect a diverse audience, from the first-time user to the avid outdoors person, to their national forest experiences. The campaign is relatable, engaging and inspiring; and uses recreation on national forests as an opportunity to talk about stewardship, restoration and the other benefits national forests provide. The White River National Forest is all yours to explore, discover and care for.
