OneMain Financial expands partnership with National Forest Foundation to plant 200,000 trees.
Located in the northern Rockies and adjacent to Yellowstone National Park, the Custer-Gallatin National Forest is a key part of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, which harbors a uniquely intact assemblage of native wildlife species. Much of this critical habitat was impacted by an increasing number of wildfires that swept across the Forest in recent years.
OneMain Financial’s contribution to the NFF’s Trees For US program will plant 200,000 trees that will help stabilize forest soils, enhance habitat for local wildlife and will help jump start the Forest’s recovery.
OneMain Financial Chief Operating Officer John Schachtel said, "We are pleased to continue our partnership with the National Forest Foundation in its work to conserve and restore our National Forests. OneMain Financial is dedicated to supporting the communities where we live and work, and are excited to be nearing our goal of planting one million trees. Supporting initiatives that benefit the environment and promote a sustainable future is an important cause to both our company and our employees.".
“We are very proud of the accomplishments we’ve achieved with OneMain Financial,” said Bill Possiel, NFF president. “This year’s partnership underscores OneMain’s commitment to support our National Forests and will make a real difference for one of our county’s most treasured areas – the Greater Yellowstone ecosystem.”
