Sunlight Mountain Resort Supports Restoration of White River National Forest through New Partnership
The National Forest Foundation (NFF) and White River National Forest are proud to announce a new partnership with Sunlight Mountain Resort to help restore the White River National Forest, including areas recently burned by the Grizzly Creek Fire.
Through the new partnership, Sunlight skiers and riders will be able to add a voluntary $5 donation to their online season pass or lift ticket purchases. The NFF will provide a net $2.50 match on every $5 donated. Funds raised through the partnership will be invested on the White River National Forest, to implement projects to help restore the landscape and repair important infrastructure for public access.
“Thanks to Sunlight for joining this community partnership. Their participation gives people enjoying the White River National Forest at Sunlight Mountain Resort a convenient avenue to contribute to the restoration fund should they choose to,” said Acting Forest Supervisor Lisa Stoeffler. “We will continue to work with our many partners this winter to identify the long-term restoration needs in the Grizzly Creek Fire burn area.”
We are excited to partner with NFF in raising funds to help restore lands impacted by the Grizzly Creek Fire, and we want to thank the hundreds of skiers and riders, both locally, and from afar, who have already donated funds.
“The NFF is proud to help restore the White River National Forest through this new partnership with Sunlight Mountain Resort. We appreciate the generosity of Sunlight’s guests, and are thrilled to team up with the White River National Forest to put the dollars to work on the ground for the benefit of our National Forests,” said Mary Mitsos, President & CEO, National Forest Foundation.
This exciting new partnership adds significant momentum to the White River National Forest Restoration Fund – an effort the NFF and White River National Forest launched earlier this year in response to the Grizzly Creek Fire and its impacts to the forest. The Fund has received overwhelming support from the community and local businesses, including notable recent contributions from Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park and Iron Mountain Hot Springs.
Sunlight Mountain Resort’s exciting new support for the Fund will help expand the scale of its impact. To learn more about how you can donate to the Fund, visit support.nationalforests.org/WRNF.
