Kyle Funakoshi
Chief Advancement OfficerKyle Funakoshi serves as the Chief Advancement Officer at the National Forest Foundation, where he leads efforts to expand philanthropic support for the protection and stewardship of America’s National Forests and Grasslands. With more than two decades of experience in nonprofit advancement and fundraising, Kyle has dedicated his career to fostering meaningful connections that drive conservation, sustainability, and community development.
Prior to joining the National Forest Foundation, Kyle played a pivotal role in expanding leadership giving at the National Park Foundation, strengthening donor engagement and strategic partnerships. His professional journey also includes leadership positions at the University of Washington, where he worked to advance individual, corporate, and institutional foundation giving.
A passionate advocate for outdoor recreation and environmental sustainability, Kyle’s commitment to conservation is deeply rooted in his personal and professional experiences. He holds degrees from Colorado State University and has been actively involved in organizations such as Seattle JACL and the Puget Sound Bonsai Association.
Based in Washington state, Kyle enjoys spending time with his wife, teenage daughter, and two dogs. Outside of his professional work, he finds joy in bonsai art and playing the ukulele, embracing the harmony between nature and creativity.
