The National Forest Foundation (NFF) is pleased to announce that after a national search and selection process, Kyle Funakoshi will join the Foundation as its inaugural Chief Advancement Officer, effective April 16, 2025. In this new role, Funakoshi will spearhead the development and implementation of contributed revenue across multiple channels including individual, corporate, and foundation giving.
With more than 20 years’ experience, Funakoshi joins NFF with an impressive background in nonprofit advancement and fundraising. Funakoshi most recently expanded the National Park Foundation’s Leadership Giving efforts through donor engagement, stewardship, and strategic partnerships. Prior to the National Park Foundation, Funakoshi began his career at the University of Washington where he worked on the front lines before assuming leadership roles to drive individual, corporate, and institutional foundation giving.

“Kyle is both a visionary leader and a talented fundraiser,” shared Dieter Fenkart-Froeschl, President and CEO of NFF. “The National Forest Foundation has ambitious goals and Kyle’s extensive fundraising experience, his proven ability to foster meaningful connections, and his passion for forests align perfectly with our strategic priorities. Kyle’s addition to our team will propel our impact to new heights and will advance a culture of philanthropy.”
“I am honored to join the National Forest Foundation team and support our National Forests and Grasslands,” said Funakoshi. “Balancing the practical use of natural resources while preserving these awe-inspiring places for generations to come is a thrilling opportunity, and I look forward to collaborating with the staff, donors, and partners as we deepen NFF’s critical work.”
As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, Funakoshi will work closely with the executive team and the Board of Directors to increase fundraising and deliver positive impact to America’s National Forests and Grasslands. Funakoshi will be Seattle-based.
