Dakan Road Landowner Assistance Forest Restoration and Hazardous Fuels Reduction Douglas County, Colorado
The Dakan Road Project is a forest restoration and hazardous fuels reduction effort located on approximately 492 acres across 13 private properties west of Castle Rock, Colorado, primarily along Dakan Road and Majestic Mountain Road. The project area contains a mix of dense mixed conifer forest, ponderosa pine stands, and Gambel oak woodlands where high tree densities, ladder fuels, and accumulated vegetation have increased wildfire risk, reduced forest health, and heightened susceptibility to insect and disease outbreaks. The selected contractor will implement hazardous fuels reduction and forest stand improvement treatments across approximately 492 acres of private land. The selected contractor will also be expected to evaluate site conditions, operate safely within complex terrain, coordinate with the Colorado State Forest Service as project administrator, and complete treatments in accordance with project specifications.
A mandatory pre-bid site tour will take place November 4, from 9:00am-12:00pm MST. Attending the pre-bid tour is required to be eligible to submit a proposal.
Joe Gray ((970) 495-2278, [email protected]), CSFS Lead Forester, will be running the tour. Please contact Joe with any questions and to let him know if you plan to attend.
