The purpose of this project is to improve and restore the lower reach (approximately 1,000 feet) of the Beaver Creek watershed function through design work and a series of restoration activities that address excessive sediment inputs, high stream temperatures, destabilized streambanks, over-straightened stream channels, a lack of vegetation for shading, and disconnected floodplain. This project will improve water quality, water temperature, reduce erosive forces, maintain infrastructure, and improve wildlife and fish habitat along this tributary of the Gallinas River in San Miguel County, New Mexico near the El Porvenir bridge and campground.
Special attention shall be paid to the intersection of project stream work with a high-use campground and adjacent public creek access area, multiple trailheads, and a newly installed bridge.
Note: The RFP now includes Addendum 1 issued 9/1/26. A summary of changes is included at the top of the full RFP attachment.

Download MaterialsThe NFF is partnering with the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests and American Whitewater to improve river access and construct a boat ramp for non-motorized watercraft users on the Taylor River in Gunnison County, Colorado. The site, known as “the Slot,” serves as a primary point of access for guided and self-outfitted river trips on the Upper Taylor River. Current access contains a simple footpath down the steep embankment to the river, which has led to erosion and public safety concerns. This project seeks to enhance user experience and safety by establishing permanent boat ramp infrastructure at this site. This project includes the construction of a permanent boat access to the river, including the following components: stairs, raft slides, erosion control, and signage.

Download MaterialsHurricane Michael in 2018 and subsequent tropical storm runoff have impacted bank stability of the Apalachicola River along the Prospect Bluff heritage site. The project aims to stabilize the approximately 1500-2000 square feet and 150 linear feet of riverbank, directly below bench or below mean high water line, and protect it from further erosion. The project was conceptualized using nature-based solutions of structural and vegetation installations. NFF, in partnership with the USFS, is seeking a qualified architectural and engineering contractor for engineering design to restore and stabilize the shoreline of Prospect Bluff. While the focus of this RFP is for engineering design, NFF is open to design – build proposals. Respondents may submit proposals for either: (1) Design Services Only, or (2) Design-Build Services. Bidders may submit a proposal for one option or both; however, each option must be submitted separately and clearly identified. The NFF will evaluate all proposals and select the delivery method that best serves the project’s needs and represents the best value.
A mandatory pre-bid site visit will be scheduled for December 9, 2026 at 10:30 AM EST. The meeting location will be the Fort Gadsden/Prospect Bluff complex. NFF and USFS representatives will be at the Fort Gadsden Road turnoff and lead the tour. Cell reception is limited.
