Ways to Give

There are many ways to support our mission to restore and enhance National Forests and Grasslands. Review the options below to see how you can make an impact on the health, resiliency, and accessibility of these important public lands.

We appreciate your support! With our thanks, all donors $25 and above receive two issues of NFF’s magazine and our monthly e-newsletter Tree-Mail™.

The National Forest Foundation is a nonprofit, tax-exempt charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Donations are tax deductible. Our federal tax ID is 52-1786332.

Donate today to support the National Forest Foundation’s ongoing operations, including conservation work and forest resiliency projects as well as recreation improvements. Your contribution helps ensure a healthy future for National Forests and Grasslands. It also helps sustain the many resources they provide to us all—fresh air and clean water, outdoor recreation experiences, wildlife habitat, and wild places to roam.

DONATE NOW

Are you passionate about the health, resilience, and accessibility of National Forests and Grasslands? Join our community of monthly supporters! As a monthly donor, you will provide vital, core support for the NFF’s operations and conservation work across the National Forest System. With each monthly gift, your impact on National Forests and Grasslands will grow!

SET UP A MONTHLY GIFT

Tribute gifts are a unique way to support National Forests and Grasslands while remembering or honoring a loved one or recognizing a special occasion. This sustainable gift option is available to you year-round, to help celebrate birthdays, graduations, holidays, to remember a loved one, or show someone you care.

MAKE A TRIBUTE GIFT

Gifts in Lieu/Obituary Language: We are grateful to those families who request donations in their loved one's memory in lieu of flowers. If you would like to direct family and friends to make gifts to the National Forest Foundation, the following is suggested wording for an obituary:

In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the National Forest Foundation in memory of _______ , Bldg 27, Ste 3, Fort Missoula Rd, Missoula, MT 59804 or online at nationalforests.org.

A Donor Advised Fund (DAF) is a convenient way to simplify your charitable giving. This popular giving vehicle generally provides a tax deduction upon the creation of the fund. You can then recommend charitable gifts from the fund to the National Forest Foundation.

Additionally, you can name a beneficiary of your donor-advised fund after your lifetime. You can designate the National Forest Foundation as a recipient of a portion of the remaining account value or the full balance.

If you are 70½ or older, you can make a direct transfer from your IRA to the National Forest Foundation without paying federal income taxes on the amount. Thus, your gift can fulfill a minimum distribution requirement while also providing a significant tax benefit. You can also designate the National Forest Foundation as a beneficiary of your IRA. We encourage you to consult with your financial advisor about this gift option.

Donating appreciated stock is one of the easiest ways to maximize your donation to the National Forest Foundation. By transferring stock to the NFF directly, you can avoid capital gains taxes, which means the value of your direct stock gift would be higher than if you sold the stock and then made a cash donation. You are still eligible to deduct the full fair-market value of the asset you donated from your income taxes, up to the overall amount allowed by the IRS.
