Janice Innis-Thompson is an attorney who has worked for leading companies in financial services, technology and manufacturing. She joined Nationwide in October 2020, after a distinguished career in government and as a Chief Compliance Counsel and Chief Compliance and Ethics Officer at companies such as International Paper, Tyco International, TIAA and Samsung Electronics, North America. She created TIAA’s Ethics program, which won Ethisphere’s Awards in 2014, 2015 and 2016 ranking TIAA as one of the most Ethical Companies in the World.

In her current role as SVP, Litigation and Legal Operations, she leads a large group of attorneys and legal professionals who manage Corporate Litigation and provide legal counsel to Finance, HR, IT and Marketing.

Following a Judicial Clerkship on the US Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit, Janice began her career with the United States Department of Justice, where she was an Assistant U.S. Attorney in three jurisdictions: Middle Districr od Florida; Western District of NY; and Eastern District of NY. During that time she also served a year as Counsel to the Director of EOUSA (Executive Office for United States Attorneys), and worked with Attorney General Janet Reno during the 1996 election. In addition to her day job, she has served on several non-profit boards offering guidance on governance, risk management, compliance and audit. She also served as an initiating member of Edward Jones’ BridgeBuilder Mutual Fund, which currently has over $100 Billion in assets under care. Janice chaired BridgeBuilders’ Nominations & Governance Committee for 7 years and was a member of the Audit Committee. She currently serves on the boards of the Executive Leadership Council and University of Florida’s Law Center Association.
