Associate Director, Development

Employment Ad:
The National Forest Foundation seeks a full-time Associate Director, Development position responsible for directly raising funds from individuals, foundations, and corporations. Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President, this position is part of an eight-person Development and Communications team. The position is located at its National Capital office (Alexandria, VA).

Position Duties and Responsibilities Include: Identifying individual prospects for giving at $5,000+ from among current supporters; cultivating, soliciting and stewarding individuals resulting in increased giving and stronger relationships; frequenting direct contact including extensive telephone cultivation; identifying new foundation grant opportunities through research and collaboration with colleagues; writing letters of inquiry and proposals; preparing selected reports; developing innovative proposal concepts, engaging staff in concept refinement, and directly engaging foundation officials frequently and strategically to create pathways to funding. Preparing corporate packages and pitch ideas by telephone to potential partners; owning and maintaining a strong pipeline of potential prospects; supporting the Executive Vice President on selected relationships and approaches; implementing new plan for gift clubs including benefits; contributing occasional articles for Your National Forests magazine and NFF blog.

Internship: Volunteer and Community Engagement Coordinator

Employment Ad:
The National Forest Foundation is pleased to offer an internship for a full-time Volunteer and Community Engagement Coordinator position for a ten-month term. The position will play a key role in helping to develop strategic stewardship and community outreach programs for the National Forest Foundation on the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, specifically in the Methow Valley. The position is located in Winthrop, Washington.

Position Function: In coordination with National Forest Foundation and U.S. Forest Service personnel, the Volunteer and Community Engagement Coordinator will work with local partners to develop and lead community and volunteer events, design educational displays and host community groups at presentations throughout the Methow Valley, and engage visitors to the area to highlight key conservation work. The position will also work with U.S. Forest Service staff to provide support for field activities such as invasive weed removal, wolverine monitoring, beaver reintroduction efforts, habitat restoration and recreation facilities improvement work.
