The Big Jack East Project

Project Updates

The Big Jack East Project

The Big Jack East project is located in Placer County, California and south of the Town of Truckee. Big Jack East is a collaborative project between the United States Forest Service and the National Forest Foundation that was designed to treat approximately 2,000 acres on National Forest System lands. Action is needed:

  1. Reduce fuel loadings and the risk of wildfire in the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) immediately south of Truckee.
  2. Create conditions that would improve forest resiliency to fire, insects, disease, drought and climate change.
