Bear Creek National Recreation Trail Reconstruction, Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests, Colorado

The NFF is seeking partners to implement reconstruction of the Bear Creek National Recreation Trail on the Ouray Ranger District. This Request for Proposals is for restoration services related to the reconstruction of Bear Creek National Recreation Trail. The project focuses on constructing new retaining walls, maintaining and restoring failed retaining walls, installing or hardening shallow stream ford and gully crossings, replacing the railings on pedestrian timber trail bridge, and constructing drainage features such as water bars.

Halfmoon/Turquoise Illegal Route Decommission Project, San Isabel National Forest, Colorado

In collaboration with the San Isabel National Forest, the National Forest Foundation (NFF or Project Administrator) is seeking a contractor(s) to conduct service work, including the decommissioning of several illegal routes that are harming riparian areas on the forest in Lake County, Colorado. The Halfmoon/Turquoise Illegal Route Decommission Project (Project) will improve wildlife habitat and protect important riparian areas in Lake County.

The NFF will host a pre-bid contractor tour on May 8, 2024, to visit each of the areas in person with the USFS and the NFF. See details in the full RFP.

Kentucky Ridge Timber Sale, Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests, Colorado

June 11, 2024

The National Forest Foundation (NFF) and the USDA Forest Service (USFS) are working together to implement the Kentucky Ridge Timber Sale. The objective is to increase forest resiliency, improve forest health, promote landscape heterogeneity, and reduce the continuity of fuels. The primary method of achieving these goals in lodgepole stands is through even age silviculture and overstory removal in spruce and fir stands. The project consists of 20 treatment units totaling 337 acres. Units are primarily vegetated in mature lodgepole, live and dead. Stands of Engleman Spruce and subalpine fir are present as well. Slope varies from 0 to 35%.

This Request for Proposals is for temporary toilet rental and cleaning service for the Boulder Ranger District’s East Portal Trailhead. The National Forest Foundation, with the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forest Boulder Ranger District, is requesting the rental of 1 accessible portable toilet, 3 regular portable toilets, and include servicing to all units. Services will consist of furnishing all equipment, labor, supplies, supervision, transportation, and incidentals necessary to perform portable toilet delivery/pick up, pumping, cleaning, and effluent disposal services. The selected contractor will deliver and service toilets at the East Portal Trailhead.
